Overview

This is an initiative of the Society for Corporate Governance Nigeria organized every quarter for its members to equip you with knowledge and build capacity as well as keeping abreast on corporate governance best practices.

The Nigeria Data Protection Act, 2023 signed into law on June 12, 2023 marks a significant watershed in the country’s journey towards developing a primary framework for the protection of data and the right use of information disclosed.

In today’s digital world, privacy and data protection have become a major concern as data is an important asset for any business and how well a company manages its data has become a defining characteristic of its corporate governance.

In line with the above theme, this session will border on the following areas inclusive but not limited to:

• General Overview of the Act and scope
• Legal Framework
• Principles of Data Protection

The Members’ Session will have in place panelists who are seasoned speakers and experts in Data Privacy and Protection including a representative from the Nigerian Data Protection Commission.

It promises to be an educating and interactive discourse.
