Ania Grobicki

Senior Water Advisor, UN Food & Agriculture Organization; Non-Executive Director, AFC Capital Partners; Director/Trustee, Dig Deep

Dr Ania Grobicki is a Non-Executive Director of AFC Capital Partners, the private sector arm of the Africa Finance Corporation, and a Director and Trustee of the UK charity Dig Deep.  She is also the Senior Water Advisor to the UN Food & Agriculture Organization.  Previously she served as Deputy Director of External Affairs at the Green Climate Fund, which finances climate adaptation and mitigation projects in developing countries worldwide. A chemical engineer by training, Dr Grobicki has worked in academia, consulting, and international organizations on water, environment and development issues for the last 30 years. She holds a PhD in Biochemical Engineering as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Applied Economics.

 

From 2009 to 2015 Ania headed a worldwide multistakeholder network of over 3000 organizations, the Global Water Partnership, based in Sweden, contributing to the design of the Sustainable Development Goals, and later served as the Deputy Secretary General of the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands, a multilateral agreement on aquatic ecosystems which links 170 countries. Ania has written many papers, reports and publications on science and technology policy, water resources and earth systems, most recently as a Coordinating Lead Author of the award-winning UNEP 6th Global Environmental Outlook.
