Member Session
The Nigerian financial services sector is undergoing one of its most significant transformations in recent years. Regulatory reforms, including bank and insurance recapitalization requirements and the implementation of the NIIRA 2025 framework, are reshaping the competitive landscape, compelling organisations to rethink their strategies, governance structures, capital adequacy, and long-term sustainability.
These reforms have already begun to trigger strategic mergers, acquisitions, and business combinations across the financial sector, reflecting a broader wave of industry consolidation.
It is in the light of the foregoing, that the Society for Corporate Governance Nigeria (SCGN) is inviting you to join our member session themed “Bank & Insurance Recapitalisation: Governance Lessons from Nigeria’s Consolidation Wave´ scheduled to be held virtually on Thursday, 27th August, 2026 from 12noon.
The session will provide participants with practical insights into the new reality of Nigeria’s Financial Sector (NIIRA 2025 and its expected impact on the banking and insurance industry), the Board’s strategic role during recapitalization- why governance is more important during recapitalization than during normal business operations, Governance Lessons from Nigeria’s Consolidation Wave and the governance considerations that should guide boards and management during periods of organisational transformation.
