Mr Adetunji Adetokunbo Oyebanji

Mr. Adetunji Oyebanji had his primary education at Auntie Ayo’s Comprehensive School, Obalende and secondary school at Loyola College Ibadan and St. Gregory’s College Obalende, Lagos. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Economics from the University of Lagos and a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) from Bayes (Formerly Cass) Business School, City, University of London. He is a graduate of the Senior Management Program of the Lagos Business School in 1994 and the Advanced Leadership Program of the Thunderbird School of Global Management, Arizona USA in 2007. He holds a Diploma in Marketing from the Chartered British Institute of Marketing, United Kingdom.

Mr. Oyebanji’s career in the Oil Gas Industry spans over 40 years. During which time he has risen through the ranks to become one of the most respected and influential players in the Downstream industry.

He joined Mobil Oil Nigeria (Now 11plc (Double One plc)) in December 1980 as a Trainee Marketing Representative. He commenced his career by training as a petrol attendant and thereafter progressed through several junior, supervisory and senior positions in the company including Marketing Representative, Planning Associate, Pricing Manager, Area Manager West, Branch Manager North, Branch Manager West, Manager Fuels Services and Executive Director, Retail. A career that has afforded him the opportunity of travelling to all the 36 States in Nigeria. Due to his outstanding leadership potential, he was seconded abroad at various times in his career where he held several offshore appointments; Manager Planning, Mobil Africa Sales Inc, Fairfax, USA, Executive Director, Mobil Oil Ethiopia, Executive Director Mobil Oil Cameroun and Manager Industrial and Wholesale Fuels (Africa/ Middle East), ExxonMobil Petroleum & Chemicals Co. Brussels, Belgium

He was Chairman and Managing Director of Mobil Oil Nigeria plc between October 21, 2008 and March 31, 2017 having first been appointed to the board in 2002. Effective April 1, 2017, he was appointed Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of 11plc (Formerly Mobil Oil Nigeria plc), following the takeover of the company by a new core investor, NIPCO Investments Limited.

He is the immediate past Chairman of MOMAN (Major Oil Marketers Association of Nigeria) (2019 – 2021) where he played a major role in providing private sector input into the passage of the Petroleum Industry Act recently signed into law by the President and Commander in Chief of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. He has also played a significant role in advocating for the development of the downstream industry in Nigeria.

He currently serves in the following institutions: Member of Council and 2nd Vice President, Institute of Directors Nigeria, Member of Council Nigerian Institute of Management, Member of Council and Member Executive Committee and Chairman, Downstream Petroleum Group, Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Member of the Board of the Society for Corporate Governance, Nigeria. He is a past President and Chairman of Council of the Institute Credit Administration Nigeria. He is also a past Chairman of the body of Fellows of the National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria.

He holds Fellowships of the following institutions; Institute of Directors, Nigeria, (FIOD), National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria (FNIMN) and Institute of Credit Administration Nigeria. (FICA). He is also a member of the Nigerian Institute of Management an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators

Mr. Oyebanji, was recognized continuously for 2 years as one of the top 25 CEOs in Nigeria by Business Day Newspaper. He is a recipient of numerous other awards amongst which are;

* Lifetime Achievement Award, OTL Africa Downstream, Distinguished Alumni University of Lagos, Akoka

* He was awarded a Ph. D (Honoris Causa) in March 2016 by the International University of Panama

He is married to Hon. Justice Adedayo Oyebanji of the Lagos State High Court and they are blessed with children.
